At my first craft festival, a woman walked up to my tent and asked, “How many artists are in this booth?” With a grin I replied, “Just me and all my personalities!”

I believe that Science and Art are two sides to the same coin. BOTH scientists and artists make observations of the natural world and the human condition. While scientists make measurements using specialized tools and share their findings in research papers, artists share their observations through mediums like music, painting, and even pottery.

There is an incredible connection with the artist when you choose a handmade piece of pottery for your home. Functional pieces need to perform well, so I design my pottery to be used in your daily life. My very favorite thing to make is a mug! A well-crafted handle that fits perfectly in your hand is an amazing thing. Through art we can share a cup of coffee together.

Even though my default setting is to be a perfectionist, regularly exploring different pottery techniques allows me to inject a bit of unique randomness into my art. I use wheel thrown and handbuilt forms to produce natural textures, showcase my nerdy side, and create pieces with inclusive messages.
